Testing Your Morals

      How do you stack up against the rest of society? Are your standards standard or above board? Interesting thing to think about. I went to a website www.YourMorals.org and many of those items are addressed through surveys you can take. Be forewarned; these are not MySpace surveys, they are, or were, parts of scientific studies on human behavior. It's all anonymous though, so you can really be honest and let them know what you think.

I took a the general survey and found I am more liberal than most people, but not liberal in all aspects of my thinking. No real surprise there. I am, like many people, complicated in my views. I think all people should be treated equally, but if you violate other people's rights, you should be stepped on. I don't have any problem with guns or hunting, but anyone who uses guns in an illegal fashion should be shot.

Ouch. Capital punishment. Is it a deterrent to crime? Well it prevents repeat offenders, but how can we be sure that the person really was guilty..beyond any doubt? If you believe that we are immortal beings (our "souls" survive) then capital punishment is like a 'time out' for bad behavior and better luck next time. (for those who believe in reincarnation)

What disgusts you? Is it bodily functions? Excrement? Incest? May/December romances? Dead flesh? What kind of dead flesh? Just people, your favorite pet or a nice steak on a plate? Are you a vegetarian? Why do you kill the poor carrot? Pulling carrots out of the ground...I'm gonna go tell your mother, then we'll see who gets the last laugh.

Do you lean left or right? That's gay. What does that mean? Does it mean you have fashion sense? Or does it mean you have an attraction  to tossing salad? Not without dressing, you heathen. Is anyone following this? hello? Heathen? Do you believe in God or Goddess or plural gods? Are you a self-realized god? Nice isn't it? Does that disgust you?

Fine. Take the test(s) yourself and see where you stand... or sit... does any part of your bare flesh ever touch the seat of a public toilet? Wait, now I'm giving away answers to the test, or at least the questions. My answers will remain private, unless someone asks me.
