Gumball

Ok, you have a quarter and you are looking at a gumball machine. You place the quarter in the slot and turn the handle and out pops a gumball. That's the way it works. Next to that machine is a mystery prize machine. You know what I mean...on the front of the machine are all kinds of cool prizes you might  get for your quarter, but it is a crap shoot. You might get that Ramones sticker you've always dreamed of, but you might get the plastic ring. You just don't know.

Some people are happy getting the gumball. They drop the quarter and chew on it. Some people drop the quarter in the gumball machine and hope to get the Ramones sticker and just don't understand why they always get a gumball. I'm not saying it's bad to get a gumball. Some people want the gumball. Some people get the gumball, chew the gumball and complain about getting gumballs, but they never leave the gumball machine. Some of those same folks get pissed off if they see you moving to a different machine.

"What right do you have to move away from the gumball machine?" they ask.

If you keep doing what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got.

Is it time to move on?

Creating Reality...

We all create our reality, this is nothing new to anyone, except the knowledge of doing it on a conscious level is new to or unknown to some. You have created what you have now by your actions and thoughts, but by controlling your thoughts and actions, you can create a new, better current and future you.

If you want to be something you currently are not, think that you are that thing. If you believe and continue to think that way, you will become the thing you desire. (a different version of you)

Cut the negative self talk and affirm that which you desire. You can visit my other web site www.SelfEsteemBuilder.net to find a free tool to build a new you.

Organized?

I am organized in that I keep a success log with my daily goals and tasks. This may sound a bit anal, but being self-employed, I found that I end up too scattered if I don't hold myself to some schedule. Daily I do self affirmations (see my site www.SelfEsteemBuilder.net if that is unfamiliar to you) I also meditate daily and do visualization of goals. this has all brought me to where I am, which is a great place. However, the past few weeks have really been screwy with me running the kids around to various sports practices. I feel like I have lost direction, just a little bit.

I will be glad when school starts and I get peace back.

my 1st novel is almost done. I'll be submitting to my editor (Deb) next week, then I will finally send it to the publisher. Exciting scarey time. Can you say NY times best selling author?

Gratitude

I keep coming across the same concept in different forms. When I was growing up I always heard 'count your blessings' but I also heard 'don't count your chickens before they hatch. (we never had chickens, so why is that saying so common?)
To get back to my point, I saw the 'gratitude stone' in the movie the Secret (highly recommended) and started carrying a stone with me. I touch it many times daily and think of all the things in my life I am grateful for. The list keeps growing. My wife, my kids, friends old and new, my house, my motorcycle,my talents for writing and singing, family, the internet, my computer, nice weather, my health. it goes on and on. Some are the little things that we all take for granted, Some are BIG things.

I am grateful to meet new friends doing Rocky Horror. Some may be friends for years, others will temporarily cross paths and enhance my life. Thank you all. You are helping me get to the place I want to be. I am grateful for my theater experiences past present and future.

Back to the counting chickens. I believe you should count your chickens before they hatch. Create the healthy chicks in your mind. They will appear more readily if you do. I created my world in my mind, and gradually it is all coming together. Life is amazing.

You become...

You become like the three people you hang out with the most. Do they have the qualities you want people to see in you? Do their attitudes make you say "Yes! that is the way to be." ?

If you don't likewhat you see, what are you going to do about it? Are they looking to be more than they are? Hanging out getting drunk might be OK for a weekend, but is it all there is to life? maybe it is for you.

Staying sober while those around you are partying may be tough to do,but if you can manage it, do their actions and words impress you or make you think, 'do I act like that?'

this is not a diatribe on drinking. I like to drink sometimes myself. Maybe too much. But I think about my actions and how they impact those around me.

How did I feel as my father fell down drunk and busted his head open? How do my children see me while I am drinking? Do they think because I do it, it's OK? or do they think, "I'll never do that"

food (or drink) for thought..

so, do your friends elevate you, or bring you down to their level?

Mastermind Group

I am starting a new Mastermind group. for those unaware of the concept, a group of people get together at regular intervals to brainstorm, share ideas, help each other, set goals, be positive and supportive always, keep each other on track, be accountable for action toward goals.

I have had some folks express interest, but I have to keep the number low (too many people make for long meetings)

Structure of meetings to be around 20 minutes per person for presentation of ideas, and brainstorming on those ideas, then on to the next person. It is tough getting the right people. Everyone needs to get along, but not get off track and turn into a social occasion.
I have another group I am involved with that has really helped move me along, but I want a second group to really help push. new people, new thoughts, new actions. exciting. I'll comment on this more as the group builds
